• Promote interest to the history of the studied language.
• Widen historical cultural and geographical scope.
• Comparison of Russian and British historical events and cultural differences.

Scope:

• Summary of key historical events and trends using video and audio aids. 
• Use of literature material as learning aids and language exercises.
• Extension of relevant vocabulary based on the extracts from Russian literature and other learning materials.
• Encourage pupils to formulate their opinion and discuss historical events and tendencies.
  
• Use of maps, elements of geography.
